On Thanksgiving Day, Willard Public Works Takes One for the Team
When, oh when, decision makers, will this several-years-old issue be fixed?
Crawling around in other people’s toilet waste might not be your idea of how to spend Thanksgiving Day, but when Willard’s infrastructure breaks, somebody’s got to do it, and that responsibility falls to the team at Willard Public Works—24/7—including major holidays.
What’s another reason for Willard residents to be thankful? Here they are spending their holiday making yet another major repair.
If you weren’t aware, Willard’s force main—the system that transports sewage under pressure to Springfield for treatment—is an ongoing disaster. You can read more about it here.
At this point, I’ve lost count of how many major breaks have occurred, but the number must be approaching twenty by now.
One resident even has a video of a force-main failure from a while ago that includes a human-waste geyser allegedly spraying 15 feet in the air. I may see if he’ll let me post a copy of it.
Hopefully, the team that spent their holiday fixing this mess were able to enjoy a good Thanksgiving dinner and a much-needed rest.
Thanks for all you do, PW crew!
