First, last week, an anonymous note that someone left on my car prompted me to spend my available time pursuing allegations that — if true — could have potentially affected one of the local elections.
Eventually, I concluded that the allegations were most likely unfounded and, as such, wrote an article examining why someone would want them brought to light a mere two weeks before the election. But in the end, and though I thought the story of “Why now?” was newsworthy, I couldn’t justify publishing the article due to not knowing the identity of the source of the information, and because of the potential and undeserved damage the article could have on the reputation of the person who it very much seemed had been falsely accused.
Second, on Friday, my water heater went out, and the removal and new installation took half a day.
Anyway, two articles I had hoped to publish sooner but still intend to release before the election are:
SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS - Sometime this week, I’ll have a final article about the school board elections. It will include the responses to my candidate survey (or really, the lack thereof) and a look at where, in my opinion, each candidate appears to stand on the issue of disputed library books. I’ll be tying the issue into a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Missouri on behalf of school librarians who are seeking the return of 300+ titles that have been removed since August.
MAYORAL RACE - The weekend before the election, I’ll have a final article on the mayoral race, in which I’ll try to predict what the election of either candidate would look like for Willard, how well either candidate would likely interface with the remaining aldermen, and what I see as the most likely election outcome. I may also try to find out more information about some of the write-ins for alderman that I learned about over the last week.
Speaking of WRITE-INS, feel free to let write-in candidates know that they are welcome to post information about themselves to this Facebook group if they are looking to spread the word.
Am I understanding this right? Willard has a mayoral candidate who is also in a relationship with an alderman and the alderman doesn't even live in the district that he's representing? I can totally understand why nobody wants to be on the city board. It's a soap opera. Yeah, nothing nefarious going on there. *rolls eyes*
I'm going to write your name in, MoM. 😂
